The Naked Table Project was the original idea of Charles Shackleton, co-founder of ShackletonThomas. For this project, fifteen people are invited for a weekend “experience” to make a plain, simple, contemporary family table made of locally harvested and sustainably grown Vermont Sugar Maple. The project has met with great success because of people’s desire to create with their hands, a functional, beautiful, family icon, “naked” of ego, that is symbolic of community and is at the same time a product of the local environment.
